Leslie Ann Curry
Leslie Curry first learned the craft of pottery while living in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands in 1974.  In 1976 the family (husband and two sons) moved to Florida and she continued her study of pottery at the Maitland Art Center.  By 1978 she entered her first art show and also began teaching pottery to children at the Art Center.  For the next 18 year she would teach pottery, eventually teaching all pottery classes to adults and children.  Leslie was also an art instructor at Walt Disney World for their Wonders Program, and a consultant for Orange County Schools for their “Un Poquito de Español” program.

In 1996 her husband, Jim, decided to give up the practice of law and go for a Master’s Degree in Theology.  Leslie was allowed to bring her potter’s wheel and use the art room at Washington Theological Union in Washington, DC.  Leslie found herself teaching priests and nuns who were on sabbatical.  It was there that she discovered the parallel between the words a potter uses and the words these religious folks were using to describe living a spiritual life.  Eventually Leslie became the Co-ordinator for Arts and Theology at the Union, hanging 10 different art exhibits and hosting retreats.  In 2002 Leslie and Jim moved back to Florida and presently live in Satellite Beach where she makes what she calls “Peace Pots” (candle pots that represent various religions).
